Finders & Keepers

First planet orbiting the Heinlein protostar in Red Sun. Triumph is a small world covered in dense forests. Moderately arable soil allows only a handful of cities (in the traditional sense) to exist, leaving smaller settlements to make due with the land they claim for themselves. Despite it’s small mass, Triumph is home to a sizable lumber industry — though profits don’t sustain the world’s economy. Luckily, Triumph’s settlers are capable of providing for themselves.
Triumph does not and has never maintained a singular government of any kind. Cities and settlements tend to govern themselves. Due to this non-uniform governance, pirates, thugs and bandit groups find some smaller settlements easy pickings. It is common for settlements to make arrangements with mercenary groups for protection.
Triumph is considered a haven for folk choosing to live without the conveniences of modern life. Settlers here tend to live in similar conditions to the Amish of Earth-That-Was, using little in the way of advanced technology. Additionally, the settlers on Triumph fall into a diverse spectrum of religious groups and remain adherent to their customs and faith. Though most settlements do not possess the same mores, contact is maintained through trade and basic human need.
The occupation of Triumph has been slow despite an Alliance presence on the planet since the start of the war. Without a singular government, Alliance envoys and occupation forces have had to practically “invade” each settlement they come across. Fortunately, Triumph’s settlers did not pose a threat seeing as more than half the world’s religious faiths adhere to strict pacifism.
